Star Zone 4000 as manufactured by Zone-All Control Systems Inc., see drawing for number and size.
The unit shall operate in occupied or unoccupied mode as defined by the Master controller's internal time clock.
Features:
- Modulating dampers
- Dampers shall drive to full open position during times of no demand to maximize the space ventilation rate.
- Automatic static pressure controlled by-pass dampers.
- Starcom Hub interface and software for connection to owner supplied computer.
Components Schedule
- Master control panel SZM4000
- Transformers, 24VAC, 40VA
- Discharge outdoor temperature sensor, model TOA
- Thermostats Model SZT4000
- Model AVD zone dampers
- Model RAD by-pass dampers
Control Sequence
Occupied Mode:
The circulation fan shall operate continuously.
Cooling
The Starzone 4000 system shall interface to the AHU such that on a call for cooling from the Master controller:
Less than 13C (55F)
The fresh air damper shalll open under control of the AHU's mixed air economizer to maintain a 13C discharge air temperature
Greater than 13C (55F)
The fresh air damper shall go to it's minimum position (adjustable) and the mechanical cooling shall be energized in stages by the Zone All system.
Heating
During a heating demand from the Starzone 4000 Master controller the AHU will stage the heat under the control of the SZM-4000 Master.
Unoccupied Mode:
The space temperature will be set back to 16C (61F). The circulating fan will normally be off and the fresh air damper will close.
Starcom Hub
The control system will be connected to an owner supplied computer with internet access via a Starcom Hub interface. The software will be capable of but not limited to the following:
Trend Logging
Remote access via the internet
Problem diagnostics
Remote adjustment of thermostat set points
Remote adjustment of minimum and maximum position of zone dampers during heating, cooling and ventilation cycles.
On site programming and check out of control system to be provided by Zone All factory authorized personnel.

Control Sequence
Occupied Mode:
The circulation fan shall operate continously.
Cooling:
On a call for cooling from the StarZone 4000 controller, the discharge air controller is disabled and the gas valve is turned off.
If the outside air temperature (OAT) is:
- Less than 13C (55F) - The outside air (OA) damper shall open under the control of AHU's mixed air thermostat to achieve a 13C (55F) mixed air temperature. Mechanical cooling shall be locked out by AHU's internal controls.
- Greater than 13C (55F) - The OA damper shall go to its minimum position and the mechanical cooling shall be energized in stages by the Zone-All system.
Heating
- The gas burner shall be controlled by a discharge temperature control such that 19C (68F) (adjustable) discharge is maintained during times of no cool demand. During times of heat demand from the Star Zone 4000 controller, the discharge temperature control shall be bypassed allowing the gas valve to open to meet the demand.
- The TOA (outdoor air sensor) supplied by Zone-All shall enable the system to lock out the heating demand capability of the HVAC unit at temperatures above 18C (65F) adjustable and to lock out the heating capability of the secondary radiant heating at temperatures above -15C (5F) (adjustable).
Unoccupied Mode:
- The setpoint temperature shall be set back to 16C (61F) (adjustable) and the AHU will not respond to a cooling call. The circulating fan will normally be off and the OA damper shut.
- Every perimeter zone's hot water/electric radiation is to be controlled by the zone thermostat. Electric baseboard relay/transformers are to be supplied by the baseboard provider.
